All New Version 4 Ships!
What's Changed
Compatibility plus.
Analyst V4 is more than
an upgrade, we have completely redesigned the program. This has enabled us to
improve the speed, memory management, compatibility and ease of use. As of this
writing, there are NO identified extension, control panel or third party
conflicts! It works great in all operating environments from older macs to today's
dual processor G4s, from OS 7.5 to OS 9.2 and even the Classic mode of OS X.
Easier to Use Than Ever!
Unlike other products that add layers of complexity to each new upgrade, we've
managed, once again, to add true functionality and make it easier to
learn and use!
Windows, windows and more windows!
The previous version of Analyst could produce 9 graphs of a total of
16 windows. Analyst V4's only limitation on creating windows is the amount of
preferred memory assigned to it. In our in-house testing, we created over 350
graphs with 20 MB of ram assigned to the program.
New Chart Controls

When you open a chart you'll notice new controls in the lower left...

From left to right;
Zoom out, zoom in, controlled zoom, list/edit and the calculator.
Zoom out and zoom in work just as they did when selected from the windows menu
in the previous version (they are also there in Analyst V4).
Controlled zoom is a variation of our drag and zoom feature (still available).
Clicking on that portion of the control will place a selection rectangle on
the chart which can then be resized or moved through normal dragging with the
mouse. Drag the right or left side to increase or decrease the size of the rectangle.
Drag from inside the rectangle to move it to the right or left without changing
its size. When the rectangle covers the horizontal area of the chart you want
to zoom in on, press return or double click inside the rectangle and Analyst
will create a new window with the selected data. The original window is left
intact. Click outside the rectangle to remove it without creating a new chart.
List/Edit converts the chart to numbers for review and/or editing. Editing is
still available directly on the chart. The suggestion was made that the List
should have the newest data at the top, so it does. The control changes to
.
Clicking on the new control will convert the window back to a chart.
The calculator has the same functionality as before but now it can be left open
and will automatically use the chart directly behind it whenever it is brought
to the front.

In the lower right you'll find a new popup menu that allows you to switch the
chart view (e.g., change from arithmetic bar to semiLog or candle). I think
you will find this very useful.
New Compare Chart
Our new Compare chart allows you to view 1 to 4 separate data sets on a percentage
change basis over a selected period of time. And, we think you will love the
interface!
When you select Compare from the charts menu, the following dialog will appear...

If there are any other charts open, the dialog will contain the names of the first four unique securities. To delete a security from the dialog, press the Choose button to the left of the name, then press Cancel on the File Selection dialog. To add a file, press the Choose button to the left of the position, select and Open the file you want to add. Choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly from the popup, then press Compare. Here is the chart created from this sample dialog..

Once the chart is created, most of our point & click interface is active.
You can change the start date, zoom levels etc. and, if you double click on
the body of the chart, you can change the securities that makeup of the chart.
Using the down or up arrows with this chart in the foreground will replace the
last security in the comparison with the next or previous one in your List.
This will allow you to, for example, compare the DJ Industrials with each security
in your List.
More Cool Interface Changes
While were on the subject of double clicking... double click on any study (e.g.,
stochastics) and the following dialog will appear...

This dialog allows you to control the smoothing, patterns, color choices and
line thickness of whatever oscillator you double clicked on. In the case of
Stochastics, we can also alter the formulation of the indicator to be Simple
or Exponential.

More Cool Interface Changes Continued
Double click on the main body of the chart and the following dialog will appear...

This dialog allows you to control the upper and lower scale, grid spacing,
patterns, color choices and line thickness of the main chart. The popup menu
at the top of the dialog will allow similar changes to indicators overlaid on
top of the chart. Menu items for indicators that are not currently on the chart
are grayed.

Analysis tools that depend on a the identification of a significant high and
low (i.e., fibonacci, gann, speedlines, and trident) offer the additional ability
to change the date on which these two significant numbers were achieved...

Use the up and down arrow controls to change the dates or type in any valid
date. When you release the mouse, the significant high or low will be updated
in the dialog.
Analysis for SemiLog
All analysis tools are now available for use on semi-log chart scaling. I wish
I could say more since this was a major piece of work. Suffice to say, you asked
for it and we delivered!
Technical Screening
Technical Screening now has its own menu choice making it easier to discover
and use. We have also added a few new choices (e.g., price) to the ways you
can screen your List.
Sorting and Ranking
The biggest change here is, again, control. We borrowed Apple's concept of controlling
the view by clicking on the title of a column. This led to three new ways to
sort, by Open, High and Low. The Rank column creates a pop-up menu containing
any sort and rank choices that are not displayed as column titles. Sort and
rank options are still available through the List Mgmt menu. One additional
change
we added the ability to sort by date last updated. This will make
it easier to identify securities that are not updating.
Drag and Drop List Ordering
Simply drag the symbol where you want it in the List and drop. If you drag above
the top of the List or below the bottom, the List will automatically scroll
making it incredibly easy to put things in order. Changed your mind? Drop the
symbol above or below the window and it will remain where it was.
New Master Analysis Summaries
We have added new Top Ten Gainers, Losers and Volume Leaders summaries to the
end of the Master Analysis report.

Unlimited Manual Trendlines and
DropLines
The previous version could store 6 trendlines. Analyst V4 can store as many
as you want to draw.
Added Flexibility in MarketView
Charts
Adjust the smoothing for Advance Decline, TRIN, et al through our new MarketView
Setup dialog. All the added flexibility in one, simple to use dialog!
New and Improved Find Command
In the previous version , the Find command simply found the security in your
List by symbol or name. With the ability to have literally hundreds of charts
open at a time, we have enhanced the find command to find, and bring to the
front, the graph containing the symbol or name. Command G will find the next
incidence in either the List or the windows.
And there's more, several of you have written something similar to this "It
would be fabulous to be able to use the keyboard to find stocks in a List. For
example, press the letter y and have the cursor automatically go to stocks that
start with Y". Consider it done!
Window Size and Placement
The previous version kept track of the size and placement of graphic windows
globally by window number. That is, the first window you opened, regardless
of content, would be the same size as the last time you used it. Analyst V4
remembers the size and placement by content, including the main List display.
In other words, if you create a weekly chart of Apple computer and make the
window small, the program will remember that.
Layouts
As you can imagine, creating layouts that can contain hundreds of windows requires
a completely different structure than the previous version had, so these are
the only files created by the previous version that can not be read by Analyst
V4. The new format can even store our new Compare charts.
New Black-Scholes Options Calculator
We have completely revamped this invaluable tool to include:
Popup selection of expiration month.
Days to Exp which is the number of calendar days to expiration.
Theoretical values for each of the strike prices based on the one year
volatility of the underlying security.
Target Values based on theoretical or implied volatility.
Delta how much the option price moves in relation to a one point move
in the underlying security. A option that moves .75 points has a delta of .75
or 75% At the money options normally have a delta close to 50%.
Gamma is the delta of the delta.
Theta is the time decay per day to expiration.
To Double is the price the stock will have to achieve for the option
to double in value.
Prob. is the probability, based on log normal distribution, that the
To Double and/or target price will be achieved (max prob. is 50).

Experience the Difference!
These are just the major changes we've made in what truly is an all new
product. There are literally hundreds of smaller improvements like increased
List size, improved candle pattern analysis, enhanced date formatting, , decimalization
and over 30 additional pages of documentation. Personal Analyst Version 4 is
so fast, so smooth, so compatible, we decided we absolutely had to make a demo
version so you can truly experience the difference.
